The Perfect Home Care Attends Special Geriatric Care Meeting
Senior Care in Chappaqua NY
The Central Westchester Geriatric Committee and the Northern Westchester Geriatric Committee recently held their ninth annual joint networking breakfast, and The Perfect Home was in attendance. The meeting was held in Chappaqua, NY.
“We are an active member and enthusiastic supporter of both geriatric committees,” said Ed Trapasso, co-owner, The Perfect Home Care. “From a practical point of view, they provide an opportunity to network with local professionals who represent all aspects of the industry. And they’re a great resource for keeping us up to speed with the latest industry developments.”
Indeed, the recent meeting featured a presentation entitled, “Bundled Payments and the Transition from Volume to Value.” The presenter, Dr. Zenobia J. Brown, is Medical Director-Care Solutions for the Northwell Health Care System.
In her presentation, Dr. Brown provided an overview of the “bundled payment model,” which encourages coordination across providers to promote more efficient care. Under a bundled payment, a single fee is paid for an entire episode of care related to a treatment or condition. For example, a single fee for hip replacement would cover both the procedure itself and the rehabilitation and follow-up treatments. This fee would be divided among the providers along the care pathway.
“Dr. Brown discussed how the model is currently being implemented for various medical procedures,” said Phil Waga, co-owner, The Perfect Home Care. “The model eliminates fragmented care. It’s very impressive. As with all Geriatric Committee meetings, we learned a lot.”
